Whittlesey
Principal Consultant
Fred is an internationally-recognized consultant in compensation strategy,
executive compensation, equity-based compensation and financial approaches
to HR management. He is Principal Consultant of Compensation Venture Group
and holds advisory positions with Salary.com,
Inc., The Integrity
Institute, and Global Shares.
He is co-founder of the Global Equity
Organization (GEO), a Founding Member of the National
Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP), past Chair of the
Advisory Board for the Certified Equity
Professional Institute at Santa Clara University, and a current Executive
Compensation Task Force member for CompensationStandards.com.
His 20 years of compensation consulting experience includes positions
with Towers Perrin, Mercer and Radford and he was the founding Principal
of Compensation and Performance Management, Inc. (CPM). His corporate
experience includes roles as the Director, Global Compensation for Amazon.com
and the Director, Compensation/HR Technology for Broadcom Corporation.
Fred has served as an instructor for UCLA Anderson Graduate School of
Management and UCLA Extension on financial aspects of managing people
in organizations. He teaches WorldatWork’s “Accounting and Finance for
HR Professionals” and basic and advanced “Executive Compensation” courses
in both classroom and webcast formats. He has authored dozens of articles
which have appeared in major compensation journals and periodicals and
has presented his ideas at compensation conferences around the world.
Fred received his MBA with honors from UCLA with concentrations in human
resource management and marketing. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna
Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a BA in industrial/organizational
psychology. He earned the Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation
from Santa Clara University and the Certified Compensation Professional
(CCP) designation from WorldatWork, and is currently studying Theology
at Seattle University.
